Recently, the “High-Specific-Capacity Coal-Based Hard Carbon Anode Material for Sodium-Ion Batteries” project, led by the Shenzhen Research Institute (a subsidiary of China National Coal Group), has been approved under the 2025 National Key R&D Program – Special Project on Disruptive Technological Innovation. The project focuses on developing high-specific-capacity, low-cost hard carbon anode materials for sodium-ion batteries. It innovatively employs a one-step carbonization process regulated by polysaccharide additives, successfully producing hard carbon materials with controllable chemical properties and pore structures. This breakthrough significantly enhances specific capacity while reducing production costs, providing critical material support for the technological advancement of the sodium-ion battery industry.
